Industries

Built for the businesses that build things.

Trucking is where we started. The same discipline — read the contract, know the exposure, shop the market — now covers four more industries and one smarter way to buy insurance.

Technology

Technology-enabled.Human-licensed.

We built our own tools because the industry's were slow. They do the retyping, the chasing, and the comparing. Our licensed producers do the judging.

i.

Intake that reads your files

Send the loss runs, schedules, and prior policies you already have. Our AI-assisted intake extracts the data so you don't retype it — and a producer checks it.

ii.

Data-driven market selection

Public safety data, carrier appetite, and your loss history decide which markets see your account. No spray-and-pray submissions.

iii.

Parallel submissions

Your account goes to multiple carriers and MGAs at once, not one at a time. Faster quotes, real comparison.

iv.

Service on a platform

Certificates, endorsements, and renewal tracking run through our system — so a certificate request doesn't wait for someone to find a PDF.

How we use AI, plainly: software gathers, organizes, and compares. A licensed human reviews every quote and recommendation, and only an insurer binds coverage. Your documents are handled under confidentiality terms described in our Privacy Policy.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Is IMD an insurance company?

No. We're an independent agency and broker. We place coverage with multiple unaffiliated insurers and MGAs, and we're paid by them — mostly by commission, which we disclose. See how we're paid.

What does "technology-enabled" actually mean?

Our tools read the documents you already have, pick markets using data, and submit to multiple carriers in parallel. What they don't do is decide. A licensed producer reviews every quote and recommendation, and only an insurer binds coverage.

Which industries do you insure?
What is a group captive?

A member-owned insurance company through which similar, well-run businesses insure part of their own risk — usually workers' comp, general liability, and auto — and share in the underwriting results. It typically suits companies paying roughly $150,000+ a year in casualty premium with good loss history. It involves collateral, possible assessments, and a multi-year commitment, so it isn't for everyone. Full explanation here.

Which states do you work in?

We're based in New York and can only quote and place coverage in states where we hold a producer license. The current list is on our Licensing & Disclosures page.
