Our role

IMD Insurance Agency LLC is an independent insurance agency. We are not an insurance company and do not underwrite, issue, or pay claims on insurance policies. Policies are issued by unaffiliated insurers and in some cases placed through managing general agents (MGAs), wholesale brokers, or program administrators. Depending on the placement, we may act as an agent of the insurer or as a broker on your behalf; we will tell you our role in a specific transaction on request.

Producer compensation disclosure

This disclosure is provided in accordance with New York Insurance Regulation 194 (11 NYCRR Part 30) and similar laws in other states.

  • We are usually compensated by the insurance company that issues your policy, typically as a commission calculated as a percentage of the premium you pay.
  • The amount of compensation may vary depending on the insurer, the type of coverage, and the premium. We may also be eligible for additional compensation, such as contingent or bonus payments based on the volume, growth, profitability, or retention of business we place with an insurer.
  • Where we act as a broker and charge a separate fee for our services, we will disclose that fee to you in writing before you agree to it, as required by law.
  • You may request information about the compensation we expect to receive from the sale of a policy, and any alternative quotes we presented, by contacting us at ivan@imd-insurance.com or (332) 333-2353.

Quotes, indications & binding

  • Quotes, indications, and premium estimates are based on the information you provide and are subject to underwriting review and insurer approval. They are not offers of coverage or guarantees of price or availability.
  • Coverage is not bound, changed, or cancelled until you receive written confirmation from us or the insurer. Requests left by voicemail, text message, website form, or email are not effective until confirmed in writing.
  • Descriptions of coverage on this website and in our communications are summaries. The policy itself, including its declarations, forms, and endorsements, controls the actual coverage, limits, conditions, and exclusions.
  • Federal and state filing requirements and minimum limits referenced on this website (for example, FMCSA financial responsibility minimums) are general references, may change, and may not apply to every operation. You are responsible for confirming the requirements that apply to you.

Excess & surplus lines notice

Some trucking risks are placed with excess and surplus lines insurers that are not licensed (admitted) in your state. If your policy is placed with a non-admitted insurer:

  • The insurer is not licensed by the State of New York (or your home state) and is not subject to its full supervision.
  • In the event of the insurer's insolvency, the policy is not protected by the New York State Security Funds or other state guaranty funds.
  • The policy may not be subject to all regulations of the Department of Financial Services pertaining to policy forms and rates.
  • Surplus lines taxes and stamping fees will be charged in addition to premium and shown separately.

We will identify any non-admitted placement before you bind coverage.

Premium financing

If you choose to finance your premium, you will enter into a separate agreement with a premium finance company, which may charge interest and fees. The finance company may cancel your insurance for non-payment under the terms of that agreement. We may receive compensation from premium finance companies where permitted by law, and will disclose it on request.

Group captive programs

Information on this website about group captive insurance programs is general and educational. A group captive is a member-owned insurance company; participation typically requires collateral (such as cash or a letter of credit), may involve assessments if the group's losses exceed projections, and usually involves a multi-year commitment. Captive participation is not suitable for every business, and past results of any captive do not guarantee future results. Nothing on this website is an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy an interest in any captive, and IMD does not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice; consult your own advisors. IMD may receive compensation from captive managers, fronting insurers, or reinsurers in connection with captive placements, which we will disclose on request.

Technology and AI disclosure

IMD uses software, including AI-assisted tools, to gather and organize information, prepare submissions to insurers, and service policies. These tools assist our licensed producers; they do not replace them. Every quote and recommendation is reviewed by a licensed human, and only an insurer (or IMD with the insurer's authority, confirmed in writing) binds coverage. See our Privacy Policy for how information processed by these tools is protected.

Fraud warning

Any person who knowingly and with intent to defraud any insurance company or other person files an application for insurance or statement of claim containing any materially false information, or conceals for the purpose of misleading, information concerning any fact material thereto, commits a fraudulent insurance act, which is a crime, and shall also be subject to a civil penalty not to exceed five thousand dollars and the stated value of the claim for each such violation.

Other states have similar warnings, which will appear on your application where required.
